Popular Viet-Cajun crawfish restaurant will butter up The Heights in 2020

By any measure, people in The Heights love crawfish. From January to June, diners fill patios at restaurants like BB's Cafe, Boil House, and The Boot to devour pound after pound of steaming mudbugs. 

The area's only problem is that it lacks a place for Viet-Cajun crawfish, the butter-drenched style that's become an obsession for Houstonians. Nationally prominent chefs like David Chang and Andrew Zimmern have featured the style on TV episodes that focus on dining in Houston, and Crawfish and Noodles chef-owner Trong Nguyen has twice been named as a semifinalist for a James Beard Award

Braun Enterprises to break ground on new retail project with Mia's Table, more

Houston-based Braun Enterprises, which is probably best known for its redevelopment projects inside or near the 610 Loop, is planning a new construction project in Cypress.

The developer plans to break ground on a 16,400-square-foot shopping center at U.S. Highway 290 and Fry Road later this year, said Zach Wolf, Braun's director of leasing. Houston-based Cisneros Design Studio is the architect on the project, and Alvin-based Topique Construction is the general contractor. The project is expected to deliver to tenants in early 2020.

Johnny Carrabba serves up new location of fast-casual restaurant to northwest Houston

The expansion of Mia's Table into Houston's suburbs will continue in 2020.

Johnny Carrabba has already opened two satellite locations of his fast casual comfort food restaurant in Shenandoah and Webster, but they'll soon have another sibling in Cypress. Mia's Table will be one of two anchor tenants at Braun Enterprises' new retail development at the intersection of Hwy 290 and Fry Road; the restaurant will occupy approximately 5,400 square feet, with a 1,000-square-foot patio.
